Business Certification

SQMMI business certification improves software quality and testing, bringing greater confidence and credibility to software companies.

Assessment: The company requests an assessment from CBQS (Certificadora Brasileira em Qualidade de Software). It is carried out by ACerT, a state chapter and member of the SQMMI management committee.

Regions covered by the chapter: Southeast, South and Central-West Brazil.

Format: SQMMI has a highly innovative management model that draws on its consultants, implementers, assessors and certified companies to improve and modernize the model.

Audit: Accredited assessors/implementers conduct the audit remotely or in person.

BUSINESS CERTIFICATION

A company can certify at the level closest to its testing environment, while also gaining a view of how to reach higher levels. Approved companies will have their names, qualification levels and approval dates published on the website. The credential is valid for three years.

The Process

The company will undergo an assessment followed by an audit.

After approval, its name will be published on the CBQS website and by the organization that maintains SQMMI.

SQMMI Seal

Organizations that become certified and obtain the SQMMI – Software Quality Maturity Model Integration seal (Software Quality Maturity Model Integration) are well regarded in the market and become eligible to compete in national and international tenders.

| How to Assess Your Company

The process begins when a company seeking certification requests an assessment.
The SQMMI chapter (ACerTbr) prepares an Assessment Proposal for obtaining the SQMMI seal.
Once the applicant company accepts, the next stages are preparing the Assessment Plan and Schedule, completing the Evidence Worksheet and signing the Confidentiality Agreement by the Lead Assessor and the applicant company.
To complete preparation, the assessor conducts a preliminary assessment to ensure evidence is available and check for any outstanding requirements.
If any issues remain, the process returns to assessment preparation.
If the preliminary assessment is positive, the assessment begins. The Assessment Team, coordinated by the Lead Assessor, analyzes evidence, interviews participants, identifies findings and characterizes the company’s maturity level.
The Lead Assessor and Assessment Team document all assessment information in the Assessment Report and Assessment Results. This information is also compiled into a Results Presentation and presented to the assessed company.
SQMMI also audits the assessment and its documentation. The Lead Assessor resolves any questions raised during the audit.
If the company successfully passes the audit, CBQS publishes the assessment result and the company receives the SQMMI seal, valid for three years.

| SQMMI Assessment and Certification Criteria

The criteria for Software Quality Maturity Model Integration and organizational certification are:

The organization must be a valid legal entity in the country where it operates.
The organization must develop or test software for internal and/or commercial use.

The sponsor responsible for certification within the organization must:

Train or hire an implementer responsible for deploying the model in the organization.
Register on the CBQS website.
Download the latest SQMMI Syllabus.
Study the syllabus.
Analyze the practices presented.
Map the organization’s internal practices.
Identify gaps against SQMMI Syllabus practices for the desired maturity level (see Appendix I – Activity Map by Level).
Address gaps by changing processes and/or introducing tools.
Execute at least one project based on SQMMI standards for the desired maturity level.
Map all evidence of execution and process alignment for later presentation to a CBQS-accredited assessor.
Define the level at which the organization will be certified.
Hire a CBQS-accredited SQMMI assessor.
Use the official templates for the assessment.
